HIKING NOTICE:
A number of Branford Land Trust properties contain dead or dying Hemlock trees as a result of a recent parasite epidemic specific to these trees. Hiking on these properties presents a danger of injury from falling limbs or whole trees, especially on windy days. Please be aware and use caution. Hiking on such properties must be considered to be "at your own risk"!

FRIENDS OF OUTER ISLAND
Outer Island, the southern-most of the Thimble Islands, is part of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge. Friends of Outer Island is a group of volunteers who have organized to support the US Fish & Wildlife Service's activities on Outer Island. One of our goals is to recruit and train volunteer stewards who will greet and supervise visitors to the island. Public access to the island is limited because, as a wildlife refuge, landing is not permitted unless Fish & Wildlife staff or designated volunteers are present. If you would like to learn more about Friends of Outer Island, or are interested in volunteering on Outer Island during the summer, please visit the web site or call Ainsley Highman at 483-6939.
