Three
Parcels on Red Hill Road Given by the Sullivans
Richard and Leocadia Sullivan have given three adjacent parcels
of land totalling three acres on Red Hill Road in memory of
Sullivan's mother, Eugenia Wallace Sullivan.
A high granite cliff dominates the land. Large fragments of
granite that have broken away over time lie on the slope beneath
the cliff on which mountain laurel grows.
Sullivan said that he was planning to put house lots on this
site but that he fell in love with it and decided not to destroy
it by developing it. He explained that his mother had strong
Stony Creek roots and used to walk to work from the trolley
stop at Leete's Island Road and Boston Post Road to the village
of Stony Creek.
Bill Horne, President of the Land Trust said, "We are delighted
to accept this land from Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan. Not only does
it contain a spectacular granite ledge, but it adds to the area
protected by the Quarry Preserve." |
