Gift Adds to Land Trust's Holdings along Sybil Creek
An important tract of tidal marsh was added to the Land Trust's
holdings along upper Sybil Creek by Attorney Michael Stratton's
gift of 1 acres located at the foot of 7th Avenue Extension,
Hotchkiss Grove.
"It was my play area as a kid," explained Mr. Stratton as he
described the wildlife in the marsh that fascinated him when
he was growing up in Hotchkiss Grove. He continued by saying,
"The preservation of open space in Branford, particularly tidal
marsh, is extremely important. I am glad that I can make some
contribution towards this effort."
Jim Perito, Co-chair of the Land Trust's acquisition committee
expressed appreciation saying that the Stratton donation lies
across Sybil Creek from marsh given to the Land Trust by the
Foote Foundation and, therefore, adds critical mass to the protected
land in that area. |
