Morawskis Give Land Along Mill Creek

The Branford Land Trust has recently been given 1.24 acres of land along the east bank of Mill Creek by Mary and Charlie Morawski, life-long residents of Branford.

"The Land Trust appreciates the Morawski's gift. We will keep this land in its natural state in perpetuity for the benefit of generations of people and wildlife to come. This welcome gift supplements our holdings in this critical marsh. It abuts our Dingus tract; we own parcels downstream given by Mrs. Simpson and the Lindbergs." said attorney James Perito, co-chair of the Land Trust's Acquisition Committee.

The Mill Creek tidal marsh system's high productivity can be judged by the large numbers of ducks, herons and egrets that feed there. Moreover, a pair of ospreys, large fish-eating hawks, nested on a platform the Land Trust erected in this marsh last year.
